MY THOUGHTS ON BLOGGING

With the arrival of my post, thought I’d share some thoughts on blogging in general, before getting back to my take on the world and search engine marketing.

Overall, the sport seems to be Cartesian. Let me explain.
Rene Descartes (1596-1650) is often regarded as the father of modern philosophy. He extended his contributions to world in mathematics, physics, and religion. You might be in tune with his theory of knowledge, Cartesian dualism (the separation of the ego and super ego) and/or the well branded expression: I think, therefore I am.
Here’s a quick take on Descartes writings that quite nicely ties into the blog world:
“The mind, then, knowing itself, but still in doubt about all other things, looks around in all directions in order to extend its knowledge [cognitionem] further. Next, it finds certain common notions from which it constructs various proofs; and, for as long as it attends to them, it is completely convinced of their truth. ? But it cannot attend to them all the time; and subsequently, when it happens that it remembers a conclusion without attending to the sequence which enables it to be demonstrated, recalling that it is still ignorant as to whether it may have been created with the kind of nature that makes it go wrong even in matters which appear most evident, the mind sees that it has just cause to doubt such conclusions, and that the possession of certain knowledge [scientiam] will not be possible until it has come to know the author of its being.” (Prin. 1.13, AT 8a:9-10)
If you scout the definition of Blog (Short for Weblog), you will not find any references to Descartes nor any references to the word “knowledge.” You’ll see words like information, personal thoughts, philosophy, opinions, journal entry, etc. But strangely, knowledge is missing.
Knowledge, in my opinion, is in fact the centerpiece of blogging– sharing knowledge, expressing knowledge, exploring knowledge or questing knowledge. By thinking through various elements of different ideas and concepts that enter our stageplay of life, we’re forced to process the information, formulate opinions, draw conclusions and if so willing–put our theories to the test by blogging and opening our conclusions up for “comment.”
So for Descarte, blogging may be quite simple: I think a lot, therefore I blog.
